Mississauga is also highly desirable because of its close proximity to downtown Toronto, well served by major highways, public transportation and GO buses and trains.
A few of the attractions to the south Mississauga area:
A $13 million, 6-phase redevelopment of the Port Credit Harbour area will revitalize this historic Mississauga community. The recently completed Phase One includes the construction of Credit Village Marina, a new, 63-slip for transient boats; a marina office; and a waterfront cycling and pedestrian trail. Other work planned includes a picnic shelter, bandstand and a children's play area. Completion of the project is expected by 2002.
Mississauga's parks are well used by people of all ages. The miles of trails along stream valleys and through woodlots within the City promote walking, hiking and cycling. The newest trail, the recently completed Waterfront Trail, provides 15 km of continuous pedestrian, cycling and in-line skating routes that meander through parks, scenic streets and green spaces along Lake Ontario from the Oakville to the Etobicoke borders.
Rattray Marsh is the last remaining lakefront marsh between Burlington and Toronto. This environmentally-sensitive area provides a unique habitat for 428 plant species, 227 bird species, 26 mammal species, 18 species of reptiles and amphibians and 11 fish species. A self-guided trail helps visitors identify various trees, birds and animals. |
